Itamambuca

We decided to take a break and stay in one place for a week. And boy did we choose well when we landed in Itamambuca. This is THE surf spot in Brazil and still very underdeveloped. We stayed in a ‘pousada’ called Tropical Twin ran by two argentinian cousins, Marcos and Manu, that made us feel like home. It’s nice when you get to spend some time in a place, because hidden treasures await. At night I learned some techniques on how to paint with watercolors with Baiá, an amazing local artist and cooked Tapioca crepes. During the day we surfed, did yoga and discovered the nearby beaches. I personally loved surfing in Praia da Fazenda—we were the only ones in the water and enjoyed the view of the foggy jungle from the lineup. Watching the locals do tricks and get barreled was quite a show in Itamambuca, realizing the surf level here is super high. The view from the road going to Praia do Almada was so breathtaking, looking over the coast and seeing how nature is so well preserved in this area made us want to stay here forever.
