A walk along Lake Titicaca in Copacabana, Bolivia gave us time to appreciate its immensity and calmness. The water is so crystal clear, and the movement of the soft waves made us want to meditate in front of it for as long as we could, immersing ourselves in its sacredness.

Isla del Sol, was a very special place for the Incas, since it was believed that the God of the sun Inti (sun in Aymara), was born here. If you go, please use a hat and drink plenty of water when hiking in high altitudes. Unfortunately I learned it the hard way and spent a couple days locked in the hotel room super sick due to insolation and dehydration. I guess this had to happen at some point during the trip—I thought at some point I would get food poisoning in Bolivia but not sun poisoning in La isla del sol, how ironic. Lesson learned.

Right after crossing the border to Peru we landed in the Uros Islands where a native indigenous community of Peru, the Uros, live in about 100 floating islands made entirely of totora (reed). Everything is made out of it: boats, houses, hats, chairs, benches, etc. They lost their native language about 500 years ago but still speak Aymara and preserve plenty of their traditions.

We were so happy to see our friends, Fer and Rocio, that came to see us from Miami and we got to spend some days with them in this surreal environment. We love you guys!
