Ilha Grande is one of the most beautiful places I’ve been. The little town of Abraão has no cars and the pace is slow, specially for us traveling off season. We had the opportunity to get lost in the infinite jungle trails that take you to paradise beaches such as Lopes Mendes or Feticheira. Running into waterfalls and natural mineral pools, noticing all the shapes and colors of the plants and animals. You truly come to appreciate the world we live in. Also, we learned the first big lesson of the trip the hard way: Trekking at night in jungle trails is no fun. So for next time we need to make sure we leave enough sunlight to make our way back to town. We later heard of a story of an american tourist that got lost for 5 days in the jungle—the vegetation is so dense that helicopters cannot see and if you go off trail it’s really hard to get back into it. Thankfully we had a street dog and the light of our camera that guided us all the way through the jungle at night.
